This focused retrospective of the pioneering media and video artist featured single-channel works, multi-monitor arrays, and immersive video environments. Playback was accompanied by the artist’s first comprehensive monograph in over a decade (MIT Press) and traveled to the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (2025), the National Gallery of Iceland and Reykjavik Art Museum (2025–26), and Haus der Kunst (2026). The exhibition featured Only sounds that tremble through us (2020–22), a three-channel video installation that reinterprets archival footage of communal song and dance from Arab communities in Syria, Iraq, Palestine, and Yemen, asking what it means to archive gesture and sound through embodiment. The exhibition toured to the Perlman Teaching Museum at Carleton College in winter 2025. The objects he creates, as well as those that he incorporates into his works, often speak to the impact of colonialism, capitalism, and racism while subtly addressing the aspects of identity formation and desire that underlie our relationship to objects.Harrison’s List Center exhibition was complemented by the artist’s first monograph, coedited with Elena Filipovic, designed by Practise, and co-published by MIT Press, MIT List Visual Art Center, and Kunsthalle Basel.
